Meet the Doctors

J. Boyd Dodder, DPM

Dr. J. Boyd Dodder is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in California where he received a degree in Kinesiology. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 2001 from California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA. He completed a 3 year foot and ankle surgical residency here in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Dodder is an active member of the New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association, where he has served as Vice President in the past. Dr. Dodder is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Dodder develops a treatment plan, along with his patient, to correct their foot or ankle problems so that it fits their lifestyle and time schedule. Every patient’s injury/issue is different, and he involves the patient to find the solution together. He says, “I treat my patients the way I like to be treated. I have been the patient at one time. Much of what I went through led me to where I am today.” During his youth, Dr. Dodder was extremely active in sports even playing college baseball. He really enjoys treating athletic injuries and has a very well rounded understanding of athletic injuries.

In his free time, Dr. Dodder enjoys golfing, biking, yard work, coaching his son’s teams and being in the outdoors. He also enjoys relaxing with his wife and two children. Even though Dr. Dodder grew up in California, he now calls Albuquerque home. He is happy to be in the “Land of Enchantment” where there are blue skies and a relaxed atmosphere.

Sharon Walston Kobos, DPM

Dr. Sharon Walston Kobos earned an undergraduate degree in Biology from University of New Mexico. She received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA. She completed a three year surgical residency program in San Francisco and Santa Ana, CA. Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Kobos decided to come home after residency. She is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. She is also a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Kobos treats patients with both surgical and non-surgical foot and ankle problems. She treats patients of all ages, including preventative foot care for the elderly and immunocompromised. She enjoys treating athletes of all types and is a very conservative physician who is largely recognized for a non-surgical approach to patient care whenever possible. When asked why feet? Her answer: “Feet are very important. It is hard to land the space shuttle with a flat tire.”Her introduction to podiatry happened when Sharon was a teenager and a competitive figure skater. She is still an avid figure skater as well as a figure skating judge. But her most important second job is as a wife and mother of two daughters. She also enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, and running.

Joshua J. Marshall, DPM
